4 Health Rules You can Break Today

Oh no!!!

This article was sent to me by one of my friends. They wanted to hear me kick and scream after reading the article (I only did a small scream, trust me).  Instead of going berserk, I decided to share this article with you and let you know why MOST of this information is INCORRECT or INACCURATE!

  1. EAT YOUR WATER? I don’t think so!!

Let me be the first to say, “you really may not need 8 glasses of water per day!” May not are the key words because how much water you need depends on your weight and your present state of health. However, eating your vegetables is like saying, “soda is a liquid so you can get all your water needs from it!” People don’t realize how important water – and water ALONE – is to the body. Water is necessary to help transport necessary nutrients to cells, blood, and plasma. Water helps these minerals and vitamins absorb into the body, especially the ones that are water-soluble. Your body actually KNOWS the difference between water and everything else so you go ahead and think that the foods you eat will give your body enough water. Then you can come back to me when you have edema and wonder why your body is retaining water, which is never a good thing!

      2.    Fill half your plate with produce. I actually like this one.

I like this one because it’s true, it’s hard to figure out what a serving is. My general rule is that if it’s the size of your fist, then it’s enough for your stomach. Too many people eat too much meat. I think this is a great way to balance your meat intake and get your fill of veggies. Read the rest of this entry »

Random Thoughts XXXVI: I love fixing things!

21 12 2011

I’ve been having problems with my pipes for a longtime. The bathroom pipes inside the walls are really old and I just realized that my pipes in the kitchen sink are really old too! Take a look at this pipe for my kitchen sink!

For months, I’ve had this leak and wasn’t sure where it came from. So I did workarounds (towels on my kitchen tiles to catch the puddles) until they did nothing but make things worse. I even ignored the issues for a while. There would also be moments where I would have someone come to take a look but their “fixes” wouldn’t be enough…they would have to come back weeks later, only to determine that the problem was something else, somewhere else.

Sound familiar? Don’t we do the exact same thing with our “internal pipes” and overall health?

Movements XXIV: Uh Oh…Spaghetti-o’s!!

You remember that canned food, Spaghetti-O’s?? I don’t remember how the commerical went but all I remember is “Uh Oh…” LOL so now when I make a boo-boo, I say in my best kids’ voice: Uh Oh Spaghetti-O’s!!!

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’ve made some boo-boos. First off, I missed posting last week and I almost missed posting this week. Uh Oh Spaghetti-O’s! Last week, I had major computer problems so I couldn’t post and this week, I was playing catch up so it was tough even getting this in.

Here’s the thing…most people don’t care. Who wants to listen to your excuses and reasonings why? No one really. Everyone is just out for the bottom line (which is what you say you’re going to do) and if you don’t deliver, sometimes you can be in a path for a whole bunch of hurt (not physical, maybe emotional). What do you do? Sit in the corner and cry the song of the Victim??!! NO!! You get up, shake the dirt off your shoulder and keep it movin!!

Health Sidebar IV: The Sustenance of Selfishness in Food

Sustenance

(don’t think I wasn’t going to make my weekly post. it just took some time for me to figure out a topic :p:))

Take a moment to think about your childhood. When was the first time you heard the word “selfish?” The first time I think I heard that word was from my mother. I don’t remember why she called me that but after that first time, I kept hearing it and hearing it, “you’re selfish!” It took a while to figure out what that meant and how it related to me:

You only think about yourself.
