Random Thoughts XXXVI: I love fixing things!

I’ve been having problems with my pipes for a longtime. The bathroom pipes inside the walls are really old and I just realized that my pipes in the kitchen sink are really old too! Take a look at this pipe for my kitchen sink!

For months, I’ve had this leak and wasn’t sure where it came from. So I did workarounds (towels on my kitchen tiles to catch the puddles) until they did nothing but make things worse. I even ignored the issues for a while. There would also be moments where I would have someone come to take a look but their “fixes” wouldn’t be enough…they would have to come back weeks later, only to determine that the problem was something else, somewhere else.

Sound familiar? Don’t we do the exact same thing with our “internal pipes” and overall health?

Movements XXIV: Uh Oh…Spaghetti-o’s!!

Rising sun in the mist.

You remember that canned food, Spaghetti-O’s?? I don’t remember how the commerical went but all I remember is “Uh Oh…” LOL so now when I make a boo-boo, I say in my best kids’ voice: Uh Oh Spaghetti-O’s!!!

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’ve made some boo-boos. First off, I missed posting last week and I almost missed posting this week. Uh Oh Spaghetti-O’s! Last week, I had major computer problems so I couldn’t post and this week, I was playing catch up so it was tough even getting this in.

Here’s the thing…most people don’t care. Who wants to listen to your excuses and reasonings why? No one really. Everyone is just out for the bottom line (which is what you say you’re going to do) and if you don’t deliver, sometimes you can be in a path for a whole bunch of hurt (not physical, maybe emotional). What do you do? Sit in the corner and cry the song of the Victim??!! NO!! You get up, shake the dirt off your shoulder and keep it movin!!

Movements XXIII: I apologize for the technical difficulties (aka “Me? Posting? Every Week?”)

21 01 2011

Well hellooooooo everyone! Happy New Year and Happy New YOU!! :D

For the past couple of days, I have been dealing with technical difficulties. The permanent move to wordpress.com wasn’t as seamless as I expected. Not because of wordpress or google apps or anything technological. It was all because of me.

I have a background in IT. I have been troubleshooting computers for a good many years. I am now in a position, career wise, where I need to use these skills (blog related) so that I can move forward, yet I didn’t resolve the issue in a timely manner.

The thing with blogs and other Social Media is that you need consistency to succeed. I have learned and continue to learn (and earn) this lesson through the struggles with my own blogs and maintaining the success I did when I was on Blogger. Consistency means being efficient with your time and your energy in producing these blogs and posts – no matter the subject matter.

When I worked in IT, efficiency would give way to making sure the problem was fully resolved. A lot of times, “efficiency” meant looking for a workaround so that the user can function ‘just a little bit longer‘. However, ‘a little bit longer‘ is never long enough.

We all want to achieve this balance in life – being efficient and thorough. In this society, there are many distractions to reaching this balance and oftentimes, we mistake our expectations for our goals (they are two different things but I can talk about that another time). Movements XXII: Happy Holidays!

A Christmas card from 1870

Image via Wikipedia

Hello everyone! :D

There are new changes in my life and changes that will come to this blog. I have completely moved my blog from blogger to WordPress! With that being said, I have had an opportunity to look into my life and have a better understanding of my purpose. This year, I intend to make this understanding manifest with one pointed focus (meditation) and serve you all as a source of insight into holistic healing – mentally, spiritually, and physically.

I hope you enjoyed the essence of Christmas to the fullest. I hope that your Kwanzaa and other holiday celebrations, including the new year, will be filled with love and joy. I can’t wait to interact with you. I just can’t wait!

Jai! (Victory in Sanskrit)

Stay strong, stay healthy and fight dis-ease!

Random Thoughts XXV: For Lawyer, Michael Pollan’s Book Is Worth Fighting For – NYTimes.com

2 06 2009

For Lawyer, Michael Pollan’s Book Is Worth Fighting For – NYTimes.com.

I have to give Mr. Marler kudos for fighting to bring this book back to the University of Washington. This book was a part of my curriculum when I went to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition so it’s great that an accredited university decides that opening and expanding minds is of greater importance than big business.

If you are interested in your health and well being, this book is a great read to know “the other side” of the foods you eat and purchase.

The best thing about this book is that it further proves the motto:

Eat to live instead of living to eat. :D

Until next time…stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!
